Here’s a great video from Carl Laferton, author of Easter Uncut, explaining the Easter story in one minute:

Weekend Preview – Easter

March 22, 2016 by Phil Auxier

This will be a busy weekend at Crestview.

On Friday night, at 6PM, we’ll be enjoying the Lord’s Supper together and considering Jesus’ journey to the cross.  Plan to join us as we adore Jesus for what He’s done.
On Sunday morning, we have a church wide brunch at 8:30AM, Sunday School at 9AM and Corporate Worship at 10:15AM.  My sermon will focus on the amazing narrative we get in John 20:24-29 and Thomas’ persistence to see Jesus’ hands and side.  I hope you come ready to praise God for raising Jesus from the dead.

Weekend Recap – Calling Followers

March 21, 2016 by Phil Auxier

My 3/20/16AM sermon from Palm Sunday 2016 entitled Calling Followers from John 1:35-51 is now online.  This passage was an amazing journey in helping us see the journey that goes with being a follower of Jesus: seeing Jesus for who He is, following Him, and being set on a course to awe Him.  I hope it encourages you and helps you grow as a follower of Jesus.

St. Patrick’s Day – Christ, Christ, Christ…

March 17, 2016 by Phil Auxier

I love this:

Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise.
from an ancient prayer of St. Patrick.

Weekend Preview – Palm Sunday 2016

March 15, 2016 by Phil Auxier

This coming Sunday, March 20, will be Palm Sunday.  It’s a great day to kick off holy week and celebrating Jesus’ work.  We’ll have children singing in our AM service and take our annual children’s photograph after the AM service.
In terms of sermon, I’m going to keep working through John’s Gospel, specifically John 1:35-51.  This passage unpacks some basics of what it means to be a follower of Christ, so the theme will work nicely with the emphasis of Palm Sunday.  I hope you’ll join us.

Weekend Recap – John the Baptist’s Witness

March 14, 2016 by Phil Auxier

My 3/13/16AM sermon, John the Baptist’s Witness from John 1:19-34, is now online.  We also discussed this in our Small Groups.  It was a fun sermon to be a part of.  I was really affected noticing John the Baptist’s humility, his continued pointing to Jesus, and his clear verbal expression of who Jesus is and what He came to do.  I hoping this sermon brought fruit to your life.  If you didn’t get a chance, I hope you find encouragement in this free audio.

Weekend Preview – The Witness of John

March 8, 2016 by Phil Auxier

This coming Lord’s Day, we’ll be continuing our work in the Gospel of John looking at John 1:19-34 (we will also have Small Groups and I’ve written small group questions for this passage here).  The big idea will be what we learn from John the Baptist’s witness to Jesus.  Our witness is bigger than us and it’s about Him.  So, I’m hoping this coming Sunday helps encourage people with how they can bear witness to Jesus in more skillful ways.  I hope you’ll join us.

Weekend Recap – Into John and 33

March 7, 2016 by Phil Auxier

My 3/6/16AM sermon, The Word from John 1:1-18, is now online.  This sermon meant we are now actually digging in to the Gospel of John verse by verse.  This sermon, in particular, sought to answer the question, “How would you introduce Jesus?”  Many of us might go all kinds of routes in helping others understand Jesus, but John takes us to the preeminence of Jesus, carries us through creation, to the work that Jesus would come to do and how He took on flesh.  It’s much deeper than we would think someone would go.  But, that’s what made this sermon so fun.  I hope you’ll listen and find encouragement in it.

Our men continue to work through the 33 series on A Man and His Work.  I was encouraged last night seeing how Nehemiah was afraid, but that didn’t keep him from dreaming.  The work of prayer and planning, cultivating and creating, can prove monumental at times.  This series is helping me think in better ways about my work.  I hope others can join us.  The next lesson happens on April 3.

Weekend Preview – The Word

March 1, 2016 by Phil Auxier

This Sunday, Lord willing, we will start our study of the Gospel of John.  We will be looking at John 1:1-18.  I mentioned this past Sunday that I try to read the Gospel of John each week reading 3 chapters a day.  At the very least, open to John 1 and dig into this amazing opening.  How would you introduce Jesus?  John begins here…

From One Degree To Another?

Yeah, that's right. My one, consuming passion is Jesus Christ, my Lord. I'm totally gripped by one message: the Gospel - the good news that God came after me when I was far from Him. So, the life I live, I live by faith in Him: He loved me and gave Himself for me.

From One Degree To Another is the change that He's accomplishing in me by grace. Growing downward in humility, upward into Him, outward toward others, and inward with renewal characterize my existence.

This site is where I flesh all of these types of things out, including my life as a slave to Jesus, husband, father, coffee-enjoyer, and pastor. I hope it encourages you.
