Weekend Recap – Responses and Resistance

October 12, 2020 by Phil Auxier

As you know, God has called His people to be witnesses to Him (Acts 1:8). This means that our lives should be about the good of our community (which I unpacked in my sermon on Acts 3). My 10/11/20 AM sermon at Crestview, Responses and Resistance (Acts 4), is now online. It dug into how the community may respond to our doing good among them. I hope it encourages you to persevere in doing good for others.

Weekend Recap – Community Impact and Update from Vivek

October 5, 2020 by Phil Auxier

My 10/4/20 sermon was from Acts 3 and dug into the story of Peter and John healing a lame man. The sermon was entitled The Lame Leap. The sermon helped unpack what it looks like for us to love our community. I really hope that it encourages you.

Equally encouraging was hearing a report from our international partner and friend, Vivek Jones. His October 2020 Update included some big changes for their family and their work to love their community. Listen to his update and be encouraged.

May you have an encouraging week.

Weekend Recap – Pentecost

September 28, 2020 by Phil Auxier

My 9/27/2020 sermon, Pentecost (Acts 2), is now online. This sermon continued my series on the book of Acts. Specifically, in chapter 2, we see how the sending of the Holy Spirit relates to Jesus building His church. I hope this sermon encourages you.

Weekend Recap – Ascension Outcomes

September 21, 2020 by Phil Auxier

My 9/20/2020 sermon, Ascension Outcomes (Acts 1:6-26), is now online. This sermon dug into the Ascension of Jesus, when He rose and took His place at the right hand of God the Father. In the midst of this, Jesus gave His followers focus, clarified their mission, and helped guide them from heaven. I hope this sermon encourages you.

Weekend Recap – Introducing Acts

September 14, 2020 by Phil Auxier

What a day at Crestview on 9/13. We began new Sunday School classes, resumed Nursery and Children’s Church services, and I was able to kick off a new series on the book of Acts. My opening sermon, Introducing Acts (Acts 1:1-5), is now online.

The point of the sermon was to direct people to some big, over-arching themes of the book. We saw some things about how Jesus will build His church: Jesus is alive, He’s gathering people together, and equipping us for mission.

I hope this sermon encourages you.

Weekend Recap – God is Praiseworthy and to be Praised

September 7, 2020 by Phil Auxier

My 9/6/20 sermon, Praiseworthy and Praised (Psalm 145), is now online. My goal was unpack a psalm that is relentless in focusing our attention on God, who He is, what He does, and how He’s praiseworthy and worthy of praise. Part of my application at the end of the sermon included the 4 G’s…

What we believe about God is fairly practical when it comes to living. So, I hope this encourages you to be freed to through love serve others in this season of pandemic worries, presidential politicking, and uneasiness over schools reopening.

Further, we used Psalm 145 to springboard us into a Week of Prayer, casting our cares on our Father in these days. Here’s a link to that prayer guide.

I hope you have a great Labor Day weekend.

Weekend Recap – Bless The Lord

August 31, 2020 by Phil Auxier

My 8/30/20 sermon, Bless The Lord (Psalm 134), is now online. This sermon wrapped up Crestview’s Psalms of Ascent series, diving into Psalm 120-134 and all the truth communicated to pilgrims on their journey. Specifically, Psalm 134 grabs us and directs our gaze to that which lasts forever. And, we need it in this day and age that is doing everything possible to keep us rooted in the here and now at the expense of what is eternal. I hope this sermon proves encouraging to you.

Weekend Recap – Marching To Zion

August 17, 2020 by Phil Auxier

My August 16, 2020 sermon at Crestview Bible Church, Marching To Zion (Psalm 132), is now online. This was my first sermon back in the pulpit since the four-week break to celebrate my 20 years of service to the congregation. Psalm 132 gives us some backbone to help us live when we wonder if God’s promises may not come true. Specifically, for pilgrims in this world, this psalm helps remind us of the joys of obedience and the hope we have in the future. And, I hope my service to everyone was accomplished in these words. Blessings.

Weekend Recap – Hope For Those Who Hide

August 10, 2020 by Phil Auxier

My church family has honored me in my 20 years of service at the church for the past four weeks by having four of my friends in to preach for me. On August 9, 2020, the guest was Jared Wilson. He preached on 1 John 1:5-7 a sermon entitled Hope For Those Who Hide. This sermon dug into all the ways we tend to hide and encouraged us to come to the light and find the liberation and freedom the Gospel provides for us. I hope it encourages you.

Weekend Recap – Joy of the Holy Spirit

July 27, 2020 by Phil Auxier

This weekend was the 2nd of 4 weeks of guest speakers at Crestview Bible Church to celebrate my 20 years of service at the church. The thought was that I’d get time out of the pulpit and good time with friends of mine. On Sunday, July 26, we showed a sermon that Ray Ortlund recorded for us, as he was unable to travel due to COVID concerns. The sermon was Joy of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13), which Ray described as… “the sacred joy that sets a church apart as truly Christian, the spiritual joy that the gospel itself continually inspires.”

Also, this weekend the church continued working through 10 Days of Praise to God for me and my family. I don’t have the words to say what these devotionals mean to me and us. I link to them here in this place so that I can have a record of these gracious encouragements.

Have a good week wrapping up July. We have every reason to be encouraged these days because of God’s love for us.

From One Degree To Another?

Yeah, that's right. My one, consuming passion is Jesus Christ, my Lord. I'm totally gripped by one message: the Gospel - the good news that God came after me when I was far from Him. So, the life I live, I live by faith in Him: He loved me and gave Himself for me.

From One Degree To Another is the change that He's accomplishing in me by grace. Growing downward in humility, upward into Him, outward toward others, and inward with renewal characterize my existence.

This site is where I flesh all of these types of things out, including my life as a slave to Jesus, husband, father, coffee-enjoyer, and pastor. I hope it encourages you.
