Weekend Preview – Father’s Day / VBS

June 17, 2017 by Phil Auxier

We’re making plans right now for the big day we have planned at Crestview on Sunday, June 18 (that’s tomorrow).  It’s Father’s Day.  And, if you’re a father reading this, how about leading out in serving your family these next 24 hours rather than looking for appreciation (but I digress).  For Father’s Day at Crestview, we’ll be having a baby dedication.

During Sunday School, Vivek Jones will be teaching adults and students using the Habits of the Heart book, teaching 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12 on lifework.

During Worship, on top of the baby dedication, Luke will be preaching Galatians 3:1-9 on another installment of how faith is preferrable to law-keeping.

In the evening, we’ll begin VBS (6:30pm-8:30pm).  Register here.  We’re looking forward to having an opportunity to serve families and children.

Looking forward to a big day.

Weekend Preview – Meal, Ben Cornish

June 1, 2017 by Phil Auxier

Crestview had a new ENews come out today with lots of happenings.  In particular, though, there’s a lot of activity this weekend.

Ben Cornish will be updating us on his ministry during the Sunday School hour.  And, he’ll be preaching Galatians 2:15-16 during the AM service.  We’ll follow this amazing morning with a Noon Meal.  BBQ meat has been purchased and we’re asking everyone to bring sides and desserts (although we’ll have plenty of food).

Join us this Sunday to hear updates from Ben and to enjoy some fellowship together.

Memorial Day 2017 Weekend Preview

May 25, 2017 by Phil Auxier

We’re preparing for a good final push of the month of May at Crestview.  In Sunday School, we’ll think of the role of families in establishing habits of the heart (looking at Ephesians 6:1-4).  During the AM Worhip Service, we’ll take the Lord’s Supper together and enjoy a conversation about Gospel progress with Ben Cornish.  We hope to see you there (Sunday School at 9AM/Worship at 10:15AM).

Weekend Preview – Gospel Conduct

May 20, 2017 by Phil Auxier

I hope to see you at Crestview tomorrow (5/21).  During the morning worship service (10:15AM), we’ll continue working our way through the book of Galatians.  Specifically, tomorrow we’ll be in Galatians 2:11-14 and seeing Paul confront Peter.  Gospel conduct is in view.  Why does it matter?  And, what is the importance for you and me?  These are the directions we’ll head.

And, I’ll continue teaching the Adult/Student Sunday School class at 9AM.  This particular lesson will have us digging in to Colossians 3:1-17 and what habits of the heart need nurtured as we set our minds on the things above.

Before all of this, though, will you pray for God to act?  It’s all in vain without His work. Hope to see you then.

Weekend Preview – Mother’s Day 2017

May 10, 2017 by Phil Auxier

Here’s a preview of this weekend at Crestview Bible Church:

This coming Sunday, May 14, is Mother’s Day 2017.  For all women who attend, we’ll have a special gift for you to pick up.

We’ll continue to learn a new song: Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery.

A new adult/student Sunday School class begins at 9AM.  We’ll be studying book 4 of series 1 of the First Principles book Cultivating Habits of the Heart (and specifically be studying Ephesians 3:14-19).

Finally, my sermon will be from Galatians 2:1-10 and thinking about what we can expect when we are devoted to Gospel message.  So, I hope you’ll join us.  It’s going to be a great day.  Have a great weekend.

Weekend Preview – Shock and Awe

April 29, 2017 by Phil Auxier

I love this shock-and-awe moment from the movie Hitch:

Tomorrow, Lord willing, at Crestview, we’ll continue working through the book of Galatians (Galatians 1:6-10), with one of the Apostle Paul’s shock and awe moments.  Specifically, we’ll see what is so shocking about gospel distortions.  I hope to see you there and hope you’re helped to move to no other gospel other than what is found in Christ alone.

Weekend Preview – Introducing Galatians

April 20, 2017 by Phil Auxier

This coming Sunday, Lord willing, we’ll get rolling in to the book of Galatians with a sermon on Galatians 1:1-5.  I really hope to help everyone see why we need to study this book and what we can hope to see through our study of it.  It’s a great week to plug in and join us.  Our Corporate Worship begins at 10:15AM on Sundays.  In the meantime, you could read through this book before Sunday and ask yourself, why is this letter important.  Hope to see you then.

Weekend Preview – Easter is Coming

April 12, 2017 by Phil Auxier

This weekend, we’ll roll through Good Friday to emerge Easter Sunday morning, celebrating the amazing truth that Jesus rose from the dead.  I found this poem from Richelle Goodrich that fuses Easter, Jesus and Spring:
“Easter is…

Joining in a birdsong,

Eying an early sunrise,

Smelling yellow daffodils,

Unbolting windows and doors,

Skipping through meadows,

Cuddling newborns,

Hoping, believing,

Reviving spent life,

Inhaling fresh air,

Sprinkling seeds along furrows,

Tracking in the mud.

Easter is the soul’s first taste of spring.”

Join us this coming Sunday at 10:15AM as we start working through the book of Galatians, thinking about Jesus and the hope we have in the resurrection.

Weekend Preview – Snow White and Soul Satisfaction

March 22, 2017 by Phil Auxier

In Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Wicked Queen asks the mirror, “Magic mirror, on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?”  The answer, of course, until Snow White is 7 years old is that she is.  But, there’s a deeper reality, we’ll dig in to at Crestview this coming Sunday, 3/26.  When it comes to your soul, who is the fairest of them all?  Is God?  And, if God is good, what does that mean for your soul’s satisfaction (or where it’s finding satisfaction).  This is where we’re headed.  Join us this coming Sunday at 10:15AM as we explore God is Good in our 4 G’s series.

Weekend Preview – God is Glorious!

March 15, 2017 by Phil Auxier

This coming Sunday, 3/19/17, I hope to continue preaching a short series entitled the 4 G’s (#t4gs).  This particular Sunday, Lord willing, we’ll be looking at how God is glorious.  Because He is glorious, we should fear Him, not man.  There are all kinds of expressions of how we fear other people and can even be paralyzed by their opinions at times.  The remedy isn’t to simply forsake this sin (although that is part of it).  We should see that because God is glorious, we need not fear others.  So, come this Sunday expecting God to reorient our lives around His amazing character.  Hope to see you there.

From One Degree To Another?

Yeah, that's right. My one, consuming passion is Jesus Christ, my Lord. I'm totally gripped by one message: the Gospel - the good news that God came after me when I was far from Him. So, the life I live, I live by faith in Him: He loved me and gave Himself for me.

From One Degree To Another is the change that He's accomplishing in me by grace. Growing downward in humility, upward into Him, outward toward others, and inward with renewal characterize my existence.

This site is where I flesh all of these types of things out, including my life as a slave to Jesus, husband, father, coffee-enjoyer, and pastor. I hope it encourages you.
