Water and Blood – Get It @sojournmusic

May 3, 2011 by Phil Auxier

Sojourn Music‘s latest project The Water and The Blood (Hymns of Isaac Watts: Vol. II) is now available for purchase or download. Sojourn doesn’t really do a weak or undoctrinally robust project. This particular project has been long anticipated by me (since they released Volume 1 of Watts’ Hymns). Anyway, if you’re looking for some new tunes for the month of May, why not feed on these, with their deep and doctrinally relevant content. Here’s their promo video as well:

Children’s Holiday Help from SojournKids

November 18, 2010 by Phil Auxier

Another helpful resource for honoring Jesus this holiday season with our families is from Sojourn Kids, who have given some very practical help on Celebrating Advent! including a Bible lesson, musical liturgy, art project or a download of the entire lesson as a PDF. Here’s a video tutorial:

Walking in Wisdom…What about Halloween?

October 28, 2010 by Phil Auxier

Still thinking about the implications of last week’s sermon on walking in wisdom toward outsiders, I found these two posts helpful…

Jesus Is Not Afraid of Halloween
– This post gets at some great gospel insights and specifically concludes that Halloween is a door for Gospel truth.

Halloween for the Christian Family? – This post from Sojourn Kids wrestles with the use of this holiday, but then gives some great missional insight.

Whatever you conclude on this volatile issue, we must look to incarnate Christ in all of society.

Merry Christmas

December 25, 2009 by Mere Agency Support

May your day be filled with praise to Jesus for His coming and taking on human flesh so that we might be redeemed far as the curse is found. Let’s praise God today for the Gospel! Here’s a link to listen to or download Advent Songs by Sojourn Music:

The song “Glory Be” is my favorite.
At the height of the song, we hear:

Hallelujah, the Lord of life has come
To reconcile the nations to their God
Hallelujah, he’s coming back again
To finish what began in Bethlehem.

This is what we celebrate today.

From One Degree To Another?

Yeah, that's right. My one, consuming passion is Jesus Christ, my Lord. I'm totally gripped by one message: the Gospel - the good news that God came after me when I was far from Him. So, the life I live, I live by faith in Him: He loved me and gave Himself for me.

From One Degree To Another is the change that He's accomplishing in me by grace. Growing downward in humility, upward into Him, outward toward others, and inward with renewal characterize my existence.

This site is where I flesh all of these types of things out, including my life as a slave to Jesus, husband, father, coffee-enjoyer, and pastor. I hope it encourages you.
