Easter Recap – Jesus Is Alive Forevermore

April 1, 2013 by Phil Auxier

My 3/31/13 sermon, Alive Forevermore, from Revelation 1:17-18 is now online.  I like taking the current book I’m working through and finding relevant passages that relate to Easter and Christmas when these times come.  I’m currently preaching through the Revelation, so it seemed natural to go to this text.  The verses are stunning.  They leave you hushed and overwhelmed with glory.

If you’d like to hear how I handled it, take a listen.  Hope you had a great Lord’s Day celebrating the resurrection of Jesus.

Weekend Recap – Called To Be Faithful

March 18, 2013 by Phil Auxier

My 3/17/13AM sermon, Called To Be Faithful, from Revelation 2:8-11 is now online.  In this sermon, I tried to highlight Jesus’ call to His people for faithfulness in the midst of great suffering.  I hope it was profitable to people and your Lord’s Day was encouraging.

Weekend Recap – Called To Love

March 11, 2013 by Phil Auxier

My 3/10/13AM sermon, Called To Love, from Revelation 2:1-7 is now online.  This sermon was really unpacking the message the Risen Christ had for the church at Ephesus and helping us see exactly what the Risen Christ might be calling us to live.  Specifically, there’s a call to love.  There’s a warning if we fail to live it and a blessing should we choose to obey.  All of this, too, brings glory to the Risen Christ in obeying.  So, how’s your loving?  Maybe this sermon would help you see what the Risen Christ is calling you to do.

Weekend Recap – To The Church

March 4, 2013 by Phil Auxier

My 3/3/13AM sermon, To The Church, overviewing Revelation 2-3 is now online.  This sermon was challenging in tying these two chapters to the rest of the book.  For instance, the Risen Christ, addressing the seven churches comes from chapter.  And the fulfillment of promises to those who conquer are, by and large, fulfilled in Revelation 20-22.  Other emphases I highlighted were that Jesus knows His church, He calls His church to endure and He urges them to listen.  I hope it proved helpful to people.

And, I trust and hope you had a great Lord’s Day, as well.

Weekend Recap – The Risen Christ

February 25, 2013 by Phil Auxier

My 2/24/13AM sermon, The Risen Christ, from Revelation 1:9-20 highlighted how the Risen Christ was active to instruct John to write for the good of the churches, to reveal Himself and to reassure His people.  We tend to make so many minor things the major issues of our day when the Bible holds out Jesus, the Risen Christ, as the compelling vision of our lives for eternity.  My sermon helped to give a picture of Christ that can give us grounding for the future, no matter what we face.

Weekend Recap – Rhythm?

February 18, 2013 by Phil Auxier

My 2/17/13AM sermon, Introductory Rhythms, from Revelation 1:1-8 is now online.  It was a relief to finally be in this book and lay aside the introductory themes we have hit for a couple of weeks.  This introduction to the book helped establish some rhythms for us to consider.  Specifically, we saw that this revelation was given to encourage us, there’s a blessing found in this book and that Jesus is returning.

Hope you had a great Lord’s Day, as well.

Our men met in the evening continuing our study of 33: Authentic Manhood.  There is some good fruit developing from that, as well.

Weekend Recap – Overview

February 11, 2013 by Phil Auxier

My 2/10/13AM sermon, Overview of Revelation, which surveyed some big themes in the book of Revelation is now online.  I enjoyed this sermon and the chance it gave me to pull back so that we don’t miss the forest for the trees when it comes to the amazingly encouraging book.  I hope you’ll listen and see this big picture.  God really wants to encourage His people through this book.

Hope you had a great Lord’s Day.

Weekend Recap – Introducing Revelation

February 4, 2013 by Phil Auxier

We kicked off our series on Revelation yesterday with a sermon entitled Introducing Revelation.  My simple aim in this sermon was to help orient everyone in the room to way I intend to handle the book and some guardrails we must have in place in studying it.

I’m really hoping that this book proves helpful for us as a people.

Here’s a pic of some was we tricked out our worship room to go along with the study:

Tweets From Revelation

December 26, 2012 by Phil Auxier

In late May, I began 202 days of journaling through the 404 verses of the final book of the Bible, Revelation.  To go along with my personal study and preparation to preach through this book in 2013, I developed a tweet from every verse.  Last week, I completed the entire book.  Here’s a compilation of my tweets according to chapter.

Revelation 1 | Revelation 2 | Revelation 3 | Revelation 4 | Revelation 5 | Revelation 6 | Revelation 7 | Revelation 8 | Revelation 9 | Revelation 10 | Revelation 11 | Revelation 12 |Revelation 13 | Revelation 14 | Revelation 15 | Revelation 16 | Revelation 17 | Revelation 18 | Revelation 19 | Revelation 20 | Revelation 21 | Revelation 22

I have to say that tweeting Scripture is a difficult project.  I find it difficult to improve on what God has said in His Word.  I view my tweeting the Bible project as more of an extended way to meditate on the text.  Grappling with how to put the meaning of God’s Word into understandable words takes some thought and energy, especially trying to handle it in context.

At any rate, this was a fun project and I’m grateful to God that now I’ve completed it.

From One Degree To Another?

Yeah, that's right. My one, consuming passion is Jesus Christ, my Lord. I'm totally gripped by one message: the Gospel - the good news that God came after me when I was far from Him. So, the life I live, I live by faith in Him: He loved me and gave Himself for me.

From One Degree To Another is the change that He's accomplishing in me by grace. Growing downward in humility, upward into Him, outward toward others, and inward with renewal characterize my existence.

This site is where I flesh all of these types of things out, including my life as a slave to Jesus, husband, father, coffee-enjoyer, and pastor. I hope it encourages you.
