Kent Hughes (in his commentary on Romans) encourages us to think on John 3:16 as a way to think about how much God loves us. Here’s how he puts it:
“For God—the greatest Lover
so loved – the greatest degree
the world – the greatest company
that He gave – the greatest act
His only Son – the greatest gift
that whoever – the greatest opportunity
believes – the greatest simplicity
in Him – the greatest attraction
should not perish – the greatest promise
but – the greatest difference
have – the greatest certainty
eternal life – the greatest possession.”
Today, revel in the God of heaven who loved you in the GREATEST possible way.
The Week of Audio…
After listening to Chandler’s excellent sermon…this week I’ve also listened to:
Sinclair Ferguson kick off advent with a Lord’s Supper message on proclaiming Christ’s death until He comes again. Lots of good stuff on eschatology in this short message.
I also listened (thanks to Thabiti) to an old message from a Piper Pastor’s Conference back in 1989 from Kent Hughes related to his book Liberating Ministry from the Success Syndrome. It was an excellent reminder of what faithful, cross-centered ministry looks like.
Listen and be encouraged.
