My 5/22/16AM sermon, Seeking To Kill Jesus from John 5:1-18, is now online (we also discussed this sermon in Small Groups). The point of this text is showing the increasing hostility between Jesus and the religious leaders. The healing of an invalid on the Sabbath was the vehicle chosen to further the hostility. At any rate, I hope this sermon helps you and you’re able to connect into God’s love for you through His Son.
Weekend Recap – Mother’s Day / Jesus: Savior of the World
We enjoyed a great Lord’s Day at Crestview yesterday. For all women present, they were able to receive this print from Type Tree Designs:
Weekend Recap – 5/1/16
My 5/1/16AM sermon, Exalting Jesus from John 3:22-36, is now online. This sermon unpacked John the Baptist’s famous words: “He [that is Jesus] must increase and I must decrease” (John 3:30). The point of all of this section of Scripture is exalting Jesus. I hope this sermon helps you look to Him.
Gospel Friday – Jesus Paid It All
Here’s a video I linked to on Facebook last week from T4G. It highlights how Jesus paid it all. I hope it helps you marvel at Christ today…
Weekend Recap – 4/17/16
My 4/17/16 sermon, Cleansing The Temple from John 2:13-25, is now online. This particular passage shows an amazing picture of Jesus cleansing the temple. I try to make sense of this and at the same time help show why Jesus did what He did related to signs. To put it simply, He pointed to His life, death, and resurrection in what He was showing. I hope this sermon encourages you.
Good Friday 2016
It’s amazing to think of the day of one’s death as a good thing. But, this Good Friday is good because the only One who is good, became sin, so that in Him, we are aren’t good might become good. It’s an amazing exchange. I hope you have a great day admiring Jesus for what He’s done to make you good.
If you’re able, join us at Crestview tonight as we celebrate Good Friday at 6PM.
Gospel Friday – Christ Suffered For You
I love how 1 Peter draws out our hearts and shows us what Christ was up to in sufferings. We read: “[22] He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. [23] When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. [24] He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. [25] For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”(1 Peter 2:22-25 ESV)
Today, you may be going through suffering yourself. Look to Jesus. And find comfort in your suffering Savior.
Gospel Friday – His Name Is Jesus…
What encouragement was Joseph given from the angel about this baby in Mary’s womb:
“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)
Today, then rest in this amazing news that God sent a rescuer for you.
Meet Jesus
My 6/7/15AM Sermon, Meet Jesus from 1 John 1:1-4, is now online. On top of serving as an introduction to the series as a whole, this sermon helped move us to know that we have eternal life by showing how the message about Jesus leads to fellowship and joy. I hope you’ll listen and I hope it’s helpful.
Weekend Recap – 4/19/15 – Abide
My 4/19/15AM sermon, The True Vine from John 15:1-11, is now online. There were so many things to say about this powerful word from Jesus on being the True Vine and without Him we can do nothing. My heart was rocked to the core by Him and I tried to help our people see these things. My outline got at connections between us and the True Vine and how we live in the here and now. I hope you find encouragement in it.
