My 2/16/14AM sermon, Gospel Power from Romans 1:16-17, is now online. In this sermon, I set out to awe my hearers with the amazing power of God coming into brilliant focus in the Gospel. The message was simply: The Gospel is powerful in its message of rescue, for all, who believe. I hope it encouraged those who heard it and I hope you have a great Sunday in these type of things.
The Gospel in a Nutshell (by Tim Keller)
I love how Tim Keller outlines the passage I’m preaching on this coming Sunday (Romans 1:16-17):
Romans 1:16-17 – Paul’s Thesis: the gospel in a nutshell
Characteristics of the Gospelv.16a – The gospel destroys shame (its effect)
v.16b – The gospel is a living force (its power)
v.16c – The gospel can save anyone at all (its scope)
v.16d – The gospel saves only those believing (its condition)
v.16d – The gospel came to the Jew first, then the Gentile (its history)
Content of the Gospelv.17a – God provides a perfect righteousness and record for us
v.17b – It is received by faith permanently and exclusively
v.17c – The result of reception is a new way of life
Why don’t you consider the amazing message of grace found in the Bible and believe?
Weekend Recap – Gospel Eagerness
My 2/9/14AM sermon, Gospel Eagerness from Romans 1:8-15, is now online. The sermon sought to highlight how Paul encourages his readers in Gospel eagerness (or being eager to hear and speak all things Gospel). He encourages them by highlighting the mutually edifying nature of faith, showcasing how the Gospel is for all people, and by being eager to preach and hear the Gospel. I hope this sermon encourages your Gospel eagerness.
Have a blessed Sunday.
Weekend Recap – The Everyone Gospel
My 2/2/14AM sermon, The Everyone Gospel from Romans 1:1-7, is now online. The sermon was an attempt to capture the brilliant way the book of Romans is introduced by the Holy Spirit through the apostle Paul. And, the big theme is the Gospel. This intro shows the progression of the Gospel: it’s promised, revealed in Jesus and changes all kinds of people. I hope you find it helpful and encouraging.
Have a blessed Lord’s Day.
Halloween – Mocking the Darkness
On the cusp of the customary All Saints Day
The Christ-i-an kinsfolk made mocking display.
These children of light both to tease and deride;
Don darkness, doll down as the sinister side.
In pre-post-er-ous pageants and dress diabolic,
They hand to the damned just one final frolick.
You see with the light of the dawn on the morrow,
The sunrise will swallow such darkness and sorrow.

Weekend Recap – God’s Righteous Wrath
My 9/1/13AM sermon, God’s Righteous Wrath, from Revelation 15-16 is now online. In this sermon, I sought to show how the righteous praise God for His justice, how we are meant to be hushed by God’s wrath, and how there are different responses to it (heavenly and worldly). I hope the sermon was edifying and encouraging to the people of Crestview and hope you had a great Lord’s Day as well.
Weekend Recap – Protected People
My 8/11/13AM sermon, Protected People from Revelation 12:1-17, is now online. In this sermon, I attempted to help people see how strong their trust in God can be in light of the victory that is ours through Christ, how we are united to God in this victory and how God continues to help His people until the end. I hope it helps you.
Weekend Recap – ‘Til Kingdom Come
My 7/28/13AM sermon, ‘Til Kingdom Come from Revelation 11:1-19 is now online. While a difficult text with many varying interpretations, most can agree that the application of this text points to God’s people being bold witnesses until His kingdom comes. This text, in particular, gives some encouragement in assuring us of God’s protection and helping reveal to us the kingdom. I hope this sermon encourages you in this regard, as well.
World’s Population Infographic
Loved seeing this graphic, which has profound implications for what we do in reaching out to others with the Gospel…

Weekend Recap – Called To Keep God’s Word
My 4/28/13AM sermon, Called To Keep God’s Word, from Revelation 3:7-13 is online. Jesus, the Risen Christ, addresses the church at Philadelphia. He shows what gives Him the authority the make a request and then lovingly encourages a group of faithful believers to keep His Word. This short passage ends with future promises that help encourage the keeping of God’s Word.
While there are varying opinions on the thrust of Revelation 3:10, it’s easy to see the theme of keeping God’s Word is the overarching theme of this passage. I’m hopeful that as we worked through this, people were encouraged in their lives to persevere in challenging times by keeping God’s Word.
