Gospel Friday – Unto Us

December 9, 2016 by Phil Auxier

Isaiah 9:6 told of a child being born on whom we could bank all of our hopes, who had the authority to do something about it, and would give us more that we would ever dream…

…and, those realities are all found in Jesus.  He’s the One to whom all praise is due.

So, today, praise God for sending His Son for us.

Gospel Friday – Jesus, Son of Most High

December 2, 2016 by Phil Auxier

lk1-32

Wonder of wonders: if you have a relationship with God through Christ, you know this One who is great, Son of the Most High, sitting on the throne (Luke 1:32-33).  Today, while you may discouraged about a great many things, take comfort in this reality: you know Him and He knows you.  Rest in Him.

Gospel Friday – Blessed in Christ

November 25, 2016 by Phil Auxier

ephesians_1_3

All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, because He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing we could possibly dream of in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3)

You’re blessed today, as a believer, with things like:

  • having your sin erased
  • having God’s wrath towards you removed
  • being declared righteous
  • being born again
  • being made holy
  • destined for glory
  • being made right with God
  • having abiding life in the here and now
  • being redeemed with precious blood
  • being raised from death

So, thank God for these amazing blessings and walk tall today because of who you are In Christ.

Gospel Friday – Sanctified

November 18, 2016 by Phil Auxier

gratitude-guide-nov18-16

There’s amazing good news for those who are in Christ Jesus:
And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, [31] so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

(1 Corinthians 1:30-31)

In Christ Jesus, then, you have become righteous, sanctified, and redeemed.  Thank Him and praise Him for this reality in you today.  Download the Gratitude Guide to continue nurturing gratitude this week.

Gospel Friday – Bear Witness To The Truth

November 11, 2016 by Phil Auxier

raised

Jesus came and He was a king, but His kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36).  Today, as we think about the Gospel and what it means for us, remember this truth: as a believer, you are part of a kingdom that is outside of this world.  Because of Christ’s death and resurrection, you have been put to death and raised with Him as you believe in Him.  Therefore, seek the things that are above where Christ is.  Seek first His kingdom, which is not of this world.

Gospel Friday – Nothing Can Separate Us

November 4, 2016 by Phil Auxier

ro8_38-39

Hear these encouraging words from Romans 8…

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39 ESV)

Get it?  As a believer, who is in Christ Jesus our Lord, you are secure and loved, regardless of what you may be facing in these short days you have on the earth.  So, be encouraged in His love today.

Gospel Friday – Hint: It’s Jesus

October 28, 2016 by Phil Auxier

We probably have the clearest statement of what the good news is in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

1cor15_3-4

How is this good news?  Well, it’s because it was for our sins.  Therefore, today, for every look at your sins, take a look at Christ.  He’s died for them, was buried, and rose again, so they are no longer THE definitive power in you.  Look to Him.

Gospel Friday – God Did This…

October 21, 2016 by Phil Auxier

2co5-21

For our sake – He did this for you and me

he made him to be sin – Jesus bore the punishment we deserve

who knew no sin, – Yes, that Jesus, the pure, spotless, perfect Son of God

so that – this wasn’t a wasted action.  It was for something…

in him – this is all in Christ, not us

we might become the righteousness of God. – we get amazing benefits and are seen as righteous in Him.

Praise God today for this truth from 2 Corinthians 5:21 and the hope it gives you.

Gospel Friday – You Were Bought

October 14, 2016 by Phil Auxier

Today, be mindful of the truth that is yours in Jesus…

Specifically, you are redeemed, bought, purchased by the precious blood of Jesus:

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree” (Galatians 3:13)

Gospel Friday – Nailed To The Cross

October 7, 2016 by Phil Auxier

I love the picture of redemption we get in Colossians 2…

In Jesus, God has forgiven our trespasses “by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.” (Colossians 2:14)

Will you rejoice in this amazing good news today?  You are free.

From One Degree To Another?

Yeah, that's right. My one, consuming passion is Jesus Christ, my Lord. I'm totally gripped by one message: the Gospel - the good news that God came after me when I was far from Him. So, the life I live, I live by faith in Him: He loved me and gave Himself for me.

From One Degree To Another is the change that He's accomplishing in me by grace. Growing downward in humility, upward into Him, outward toward others, and inward with renewal characterize my existence.

This site is where I flesh all of these types of things out, including my life as a slave to Jesus, husband, father, coffee-enjoyer, and pastor. I hope it encourages you.
