Today, you are loved. The measure of Jesus’s love for you is calibrated by the love that His Father had for Him. So, look up; Jesus loves you deeply. Abide in His love. (John 15:9-10)

Confessing Our Faith – Praise That God Sent His Son
For the past few months, on weeks we take the Lord’s Supper together, we’ve been using statements of our faith that unite us as we gather around the Lord’s table together. This coming Lord’s Day, we’ll be using this confession entitled Praise That God Sent His Son from Coram Deo Church in Omaha, NE:
for sending your Son, Jesus,
to be King of kings.
We rejoice that he has triumphed
over all the powers of this world
and governs the nations in justice and righteousness.
We celebrate the victory He won
by his life, death, resurrection, and ascension.
By your Spirit, claim our complete loyalty;
Establish Christ’s rule in every land and in every heart.
Accept our worship as we offer our lives
in the service of His kingdom.
Weekend Recap – Help
My 9/18/16AM sermon, Neither Be Afraid from John 14:15-31, is now online.
The point of this sermon? Jesus is giving assurance to followers who are afraid, encouraging them through promises that He’ll send help, He’ll be near, and He’ll continue to teach His followers. I hope this sermon encourages you.
H2Go Infographic – Sept 2016
I’ve very excited about this graphic we’re releasing today at Crestview Bible Church. This graphic captures so much of the heartbeat of what our church is about and this just highlights the international/cross-cultural reach of our partnerships. I hope this encourages you and helps fan the flame of God’s glory going worldwide. By the way, for every dollar given to Crestview’s general budget, roughly 17% goes to international, cross-cultural partnerships and endeavors. On top of that, our people have given $9054 for projects around the world. Praising God that such things could happen through our people. I hope you’re encouraged, too.
Weekend Preview – You Have Help!
I hope to see you all tomorrow, Sunday 9/18/16 at Crestview. We’ll continue our study of the Gospel of John, putting our focus on John 14:15-31. Last time we were in John, Jesus urged His closest followers to have hearts from from trouble. Now, in this passage, He’ll give them assurances from heaven so that they will not fear. So, I hope you’ll join us to get help for all the unsettledness we face in life. Our worship service (and livestream) begin at 10:15AM.
Hutchinson Food Options for Visiting Fair Goers
Visit Hutchinson for the KS State Fair? Here’s some food recommendations for you:
Of course, you’re probably coming to eat food at the fair. Splendid.
But, for the budget conscious, might I recommend the following:
Breakfast — On your way in, stop in at Carriage Crossing in Yoder. You can get a cinnamon roll and coffee or, if you’re craving protein, some amazing german sausage and eggs. In Hutch proper, you could stop by Skaets or Firehouse Cafe and be well taken care of.
Coffee — In no particular order, as I love them all: Starbucks, Scuttlebutts, and Metro are great options on your way in or out of town.
Lunch — I’d probably grab a burger at R & B or you could grab BBQ at Roy’s (they’re closed on Mondays).
Dinner/Supper — There are many options. Nicer sit down restaurants like the Airport (on your way out of town) or Jillian’s (downtown) are both quality places. We also have some great Mexican options: Anchor or El Potrillo or Cafe Azteca.
Grab your favorite fair food, but build into Hutchinson by supporting these amazing local food establishments, as well.
Hutch locals, what am I missing?
Weekend Recap – Trouble Free Hearts
My 9/11/16AM sermon, Trouble Free Hearts from John 14:1-14, is now online. Jesus has all kinds of help for the troubles we face in our hearts. And, His remedy is pretty simple: believe. In Him. Be freed from trouble to do great works. This is the direction for this sermon. I hope it encourages you.
Weekend Preview – Trouble Free Hearts
This Sunday, we continue our series through the Gospel of John, looking at John 14:1-14. Jesus is giving His followers encouragement as they are troubled by the fact that He will soon be leaving them. We will also be meeting in Small Groups (questions here). Hope to see you this Sunday.
Weekend Recap – Home As Mission Center
On Sunday, I finished leading our adults through Book Three of BILD International’s First Principles series — Participating in the Mission of the Church. We’ve enjoyed studying these books during the summer the past 2 years. I like the simple layout of the curriculum: consult the Scriptures, consult the scholars, consult your heart. There’s much content that is driven in these short books.
Sunday’s wrap got at Acts 10:1-33 and how God used Cornelius (and his home) as a mission center to advance the Gospel. We were all challenged to dream of ways that our lives could incorporate more intentionality to the mission that God has given us. So, I’d recommend you consider this resource, but, in a deeper way, if you’re a believer, dream of ways you could strategically help spread the Gospel through your home. This coming Sunday, new adult Sunday School classes will begin: one on the (not so) Minor Prophets and a class going through Paul Tripp’s DVD curriculum Getting To The Heart of Parenting.
