My 12/29/13AM sermon, Blessed Devotion from Isaiah 58:1-14, is now online. The sermon sought to unpack what true devotion to God looks like by pointing to hearts and lives that are humbled before Him. I hope this sermon is helpful as we reconsider priorities for the New Year. Have a great week.
Weekend Recap – 12/22/13
My 12/22/13AM sermon, God-Centered Christmas from Luke 2:1-7, is now online. The sermon sought to showcase how God and Christ are seen in the Christmas story so that we might believe and worship God for His amazing plan in sending His Son. I hope it does this for you and you spend time this week marveling at God becoming man.
Weekend Recap – It’s Time
My 12/15/13AM sermon, In the Fullness of Time, from Galatians 4:4-5 is now online. We had a great morning singing songs of our Savior’s coming to save, Children serving the congregation by presenting the Song of the Stars musical and lots of energy. My sermon got at how God sent His Son to redeem and adopt sinful humanity. I hope it served everyone well.
Hope you had a great Sunday, too.
Weekend Recap – It’s Christmastime…
My 12/8/13 sermon, Christmas In Revelation, is now online. In it, I try and unpack the meaning of Christmas in the book of Revelation, showing how the eternal GodMan took on flesh, brought salvation to all and is coming again. We had a great morning looking at these things.
I mentioned Jared Wilson’s blogpost Don’t Let Christmas Distract You From Jesus, so go over there and read it…
And, I was encouraged by 2 ladies singing Born Is the King. Here’s the track with lyrics:
Weekend Recap – Come Lord Jesus
My 12/1/13AM sermon, Come Lord Jesus, from Revelation 22:10-21 wrapped up our church’s formal verse by verse exposition of the book of Revelation. It was a sweet providence that this final message fell on the first Sunday of Advent. I hope this sermon was helpful for the people in engaging with the amazing reality of Christ’s return and living accordingly.
Weekend Recap – At Home and Abroad
At the request of the Elders of Crestview, I was encouraged to get some time away with Meghan without children (although we brought Micah with us since he’s nursing) and we were gone this weekend. We went to Grand Lake, OK and had some great time relaxing, laughing, living unhurried and talking through our current life situation. It was refreshing, even though it was a short window.
There are numerous people who helped back home. Grandparents watched the boys, a family in the church watched Lauren, people covered my duties at church and Mickey Zimmerman filled the pulpit for me, preaching Ephesians 2:1-10 on one of his favorite passages. The audio of the sermon, which I entitled My Favorite Passage for him, is online. He had some great applications at the end on how the Gospel of grace silences and moves us to action.
We’re coming off a great weekend, then. I hope it was encouraging for you.
Weekend Recap – All Things New
My 11/3/13AM sermon, All Things New from Revelation 21:1-8, is now online. The sermon sought to unpack and give encouragement from the realities of the new creation that will fully and finally be realized in the lives of believers someday. I think there was a lot in this passage for unbelievers as well as pressing applications for believers to engage in.
Hope it’s encouraging and beneficial for you.
Weekend Recap – 10/13/13
My 10/13/13 sermon, Babylon’s Fall, from Revelation 18:1-24 is now online. While there’s much that could be made of this chapter, the applications I drew had to do with how to engage the fallen world in which believers are found. Because we have God’s future judgment of the world in mind, we can know how we live today.
So, I hope the sermon helps you (if you take time to engage with it) and hope you have had a great Lord’s Day.
Weekend Recap – Shining as Lights
My 9/15/13AM sermon, Shining as Lights, from Philippians 2:1-30 is now online. This sermon was part 2 in a 4 week launch of a new cross cultural missions direction at Crestview. The missions committee (H2Go team) has a website for those interested: CBCH2Go. In this sermon, I tried to help encourage engagement in the big work that God has called us to: advancing the Gospel. The heartbeat of the CBCH2Go team is giving the congregation “handles” or opportunities they can grab a hold of and engage. This sermon helped move people in that direction. I’m blessed to get to play a part in this launch and hope the sermon helps you.
Weekend Recap – Counterfeiting…
My 8/18/13AM sermon, Counterfeiting, from Revelation 13:1-18 is now online. This sermon continues our work through the book of the revelation of Jesus Christ. It helps show how believers should act in light of Satan’s work at deception. Specifically, God calls us to have faith-filled endurance and wisdom.
I hope the sermon was helpful to you and you had a great Lord’s Day.
