Weekend Preview – Adjust Clocks / New Series

March 11, 2017 by Phil Auxier

First off, don’t forget to adjust your clock before going to sleep tonight (and yes, your phone will automatically adjust)

Then, I’m excited to start a new series tomorrow on the The 4 G’s.  #t4gs

The idea behind this series is to get after all the ways we don’t really believe in God.  And, when we see Him as great, glorious, good, and gracious, then we will adjust our lives accordingly.  I’m hoping this series is a good jump into practical theology – how what we believe affects how we live.  Join us at 10:15AM for this.

Weekend Preview – Short Series on Worship

February 15, 2017 by Phil Auxier

This coming Sunday, I’m starting a short series on the subject of Worship.  Lord willing, we’ll journey through the Bible to try and arrive at what a good definition would be of this oft-discussed subject.

Hope to see you at Crestview, Sunday, 10:15AM (we also livestream and use FacebookLive to stream).

Weekend Preview – Church Series

January 18, 2017 by Phil Auxier

This coming Sunday, Lord-willing, at Crestview, we’ll begin a new series on The Church: God’s Plan.  Here’s the logo hot off the press.  Some thoughts from the designer:

  1. Christ is at the center of the church.  He founded her and is the goal of the church.  So, you can see the cross over the circle.
  2. The church is made up of all kinds of people.  The children’s song Jesus Loves The Little Children, speaks of “red and yellow, black and white” being precious in God’s sight.  This logo incorporates those colors to remind us that it’s all kinds of people.
  3. The church is global.  You can see the world hovering in the background.  This reminds us that the world is not only the mission of the church but also composes her.

So, I hope you’ll come this Sunday and hear how the church is God’s plan for displaying His glory in the world as this series kicks off from Ephesians 2:18-22.  Hop you have a great weekend.

Weekend Preview – Into Word 2017

January 5, 2017 by Phil Auxier

At Crestview, our rhythm is to follow up our Week of Prayer with a sermon related to the importance of the intake of God’s Word.  So, this coming Sunday, my sermon will encourage us to meditate on God’s Word.  Somewhat related to this rhythm is new Sunday School classes kicking off.  Tom Dixon will be leading the adult class on Theology Proper.  We have new curriculum rolling out for students, as well.

Some other tools our body finds helpful are:

The Bible Eater Plan

The Discipleship Journal Reading Plan

Don Whitney’s Bible Reading Record

Tabletalk Magazine

Weekend Preview – Christmas Children’s Program and New Sermon Series

December 17, 2016 by Phil Auxier

This coming Sunday at Crestview, our children will be presenting a musical related to the story of Christmas.  They usually begin the prelude (kids play instruments for the prelude on this week) around 10:10.  Then, we’ll have some singing and the program will happen.  Kids get sacks of candy as they leave this morning, too.  It’s one of the funnest days of the year at Crestview.

For my preaching, I’ll start a short series for these final two weeks of Christmas entitled “Christmas: Tidings of Comfort and Joy”.  This week will focus largely on the comfort brought by Jesus entering our world.  Please join us.

Weekend Preview – Wrapping Up the Gospel of John

December 8, 2016 by Phil Auxier

This coming Sunday at Crestview, I finish the Gospel of John with a message on John 21:1-25 entitled Follow Me.  2016 began with me wrapping up 1, 2, 3 John and I quickly got after the Gospel.  Now, this will sermon #37 in this book.  It’s been an amazing journey.  And, fittingly, it ends with the Risen Christ going after His disciples and drawing them to the priority of following Him.  I hope this sermon encourages you and I’d love to see you there this coming Sunday.

It’s also Crestview’s Annual Member’s Meeting.  I’m looking forward to a great day.

Weekend Preview – Jesus Rose From the Dead and Sent Us Out

November 23, 2016 by Phil Auxier

This coming Sunday, we’ll continue making our way through the Gospel of John, settling in John 20:1-18.  The narrative breaks into Peter and John’s footrace to the empty tomb and then Jesus talking to Mary Magdalene.  To put it simply: when Jesus rose from the dead, this good news was meant to be shared.  John believed these things as an eyewitness.  Mary was sent with the news.  I hope you’ll join us at Crestview this Sunday, 11/27, 10:15AM to help us celebrate our Risen King.

From One Degree To Another?

Yeah, that's right. My one, consuming passion is Jesus Christ, my Lord. I'm totally gripped by one message: the Gospel - the good news that God came after me when I was far from Him. So, the life I live, I live by faith in Him: He loved me and gave Himself for me.

From One Degree To Another is the change that He's accomplishing in me by grace. Growing downward in humility, upward into Him, outward toward others, and inward with renewal characterize my existence.

This site is where I flesh all of these types of things out, including my life as a slave to Jesus, husband, father, coffee-enjoyer, and pastor. I hope it encourages you.
