New Song For August 2018 – A Christian’s Daily Prayer

August 1, 2018 by Phil Auxier

In August 2018, Crestview will be learning the song A Christian’s Daily Prayer from Sovereign Grace Music.  Part of what drew me to this song is where we’re headed in 1 Peter, with all the realities of doing good in the face of suffering.  We need God’s help to live this way.  And, this song shows our need for God in the morning, during the day, and at night.  Here are the lyrics:

VERSE 1
As morning dawns and day awakes,
To You I bring my need
O gracious God, my source of strength,
In You I live and breathe
Each hour is Yours by wisdom planned,
Each deed empowered by sovereign hands
Renew my spirit, help me stand;
Be glorified today

VERSE 2
As day unfolds, I seek Your will
In all of life’s demands
And though the tempter tries me still,
I cling to Your commands
Let every effort of my life
Display the matchless worth of Christ
Make me a living sacrifice;
Be glorified today

VERSE 3
As sun gives way to darkest night
Your Spirit still is here
And though my strength fades like the light
New mercies will appear
I rest in You; abide with me
Until our trials and suffering
Give way to final victory
Be glorified, today; be glorified, I pray

I hope this song helps give language to your need of God as you strive to live as a sojourner and an exile here in this world.

April’s New Song at Crestview – My Worth Is Not In What I Own (At the Cross)

April 10, 2018 by Phil Auxier

In April at Crestview, we’re learning Keith Getty, Kristyn Getty, and Graham Kendrick’s song, My Worth Is Now In What I Own (At the Cross).

Here are the lyrics:

My worth is not in what I own
Not in the strength of flesh and bone
But in the costly wounds of love
At the cross

My worth is not in skill or name
In win or lose, in pride or shame
But in the blood of Christ that flowed
At the cross

Refrain:
I rejoice in my Redeemer
Greatest Treasure,
Wellspring of my soul
I will trust in Him, no other.
My soul is satisfied in Him alone.

As summer flowers we fade and die
Fame, youth and beauty hurry by
But life eternal calls to us
At the cross

I will not boast in wealth or might
Or human wisdom’s fleeting light
But I will boast in knowing Christ
At the cross

Refrain

Two wonders here that I confess
My worth and my unworthiness
My value fixed – my ransom paid
At the cross

Refrain

I hope this song helps you give voice to what God’s done for you through His Son.

New Song for December – Hallelujah, What A Savior!

December 5, 2017 by Phil Auxier

This month at Crestview, we’re teaching and using Austin Stone’s Hallelujah, What A Savior!  Here are the lyrics:

Shining star in heav’n so bright, lowly tend their flocks by night
Could this be our faith now sight? Hallelujah what a Savior!

Gift of gifts in manger laid, hope of men no more delayed
God the Just, His love displayed, hallelujah what a Savior!

Hallelujah! Praise to the One whose blood has pardoned me
Oh what a Savior, Redeemer and King, Your love has rescued me

Eternal Word made flesh was He, the promise prophets longed to see
Jesus Christ, our mystery, hallelujah what a Savior!

And now the church, His praises bring, blood-brought bride and matchless King
Heav’n and earth now join to sing, hallelujah what a Savior!
Hallelujah what a Savior

Oh yes Your love has rescued me

New Song for May 2017

May 4, 2017 by Phil Auxier

This month at Crestview, we’ll be learning and singing Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery.

Lyrics:
VERSE 1
Come behold the wondrous mystery
in the dawning of the King.
He the theme of heaven’s praises
robed in frail humanity.

In our longing, in our darkness
now the light of life has come.
Look to Christ, who condescended
took on flesh to ransom us

VERSE 2
Come behold the wondrous mystery
He the perfect Son of Man.
In His living, in His suffering
never trace nor stain of sin.

See the true and better Adam
come to save the hell-bound man.
Christ the great and sure fulfillment
of the law; in Him we stand.

VERSE 3
Come behold the wondrous mystery
Christ the Lord upon the tree.
In the stead of ruined sinners
hangs the Lamb in victory.

See the price of our redemption;
see the Father’s plan unfold.
Bringing many sons to glory
grace unmeasured, love untold.

VERSE 4
Come behold the wondrous mystery;
slain by death the God of life.
But no grave could e’er restrain Him;
praise the Lord; He is alive!

What a foretaste of deliverance;
how unwavering our hope.
Christ in power resurrected
as we will be when he comes.

Here’s the awesome lyrics to this song:

Verse 1
Should nothing of our efforts stand, no legacy survive
Unless the Lord does raise the house in vain, its builders strive
To you who boast tomorrow’s gain, tell me what is your life
Amist that vanishes at dawn, all glory be to Christ
Chorus 1
All glory be to Christ our King, all glory be to Christ
His rule and reign we’ll ever sing, all glory be to Christ
Verse 2
His will be done, His kingdom come, on earth as is above
Who is Himself our daily bread, praise Him the Lord of love
Let living water satisfy the thirsty without price
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet, all glory be to Christ
Chorus 2
All glory be to Christ our King, all glory be to Christ
His rule and reign we’ll ever sing, all glory be to Christ

My Heart Is Filled With Thankfulness

November 16, 2016 by Phil Auxier

This month at Crestview, we’re learning Keith Getty and Stuart Townend’s song My Heart Is Filled With Thankfulness.  Here’s the lyrics:

“My heart is filled with thankfulness
To Him who bore my pain;
Who plumbed the depths of my disgrace
And gave me life again;
Who crushed my curse of sinfulness
And clothed me in His light
And wrote His law of righteousness
With pow’r upon my heart.

My heart is filled with thankfulness
To Him who walks beside;
Who floods my weaknesses with strength
And causes fears to fly;
Whose ev’ry promise is enough
For ev’ry step I take,
Sustaining me with arms of love
And crowning me with grace.

My heart is filled with thankfulness
To him who reigns above,
Whose wisdom is my perfect peace,
Whose ev’ry thought is love.
For ev’ry day I have on earth
Is given by the King;
So I will give my life, my all,
To love and follow him.”

From One Degree To Another?

Yeah, that's right. My one, consuming passion is Jesus Christ, my Lord. I'm totally gripped by one message: the Gospel - the good news that God came after me when I was far from Him. So, the life I live, I live by faith in Him: He loved me and gave Himself for me.

From One Degree To Another is the change that He's accomplishing in me by grace. Growing downward in humility, upward into Him, outward toward others, and inward with renewal characterize my existence.

This site is where I flesh all of these types of things out, including my life as a slave to Jesus, husband, father, coffee-enjoyer, and pastor. I hope it encourages you.
