See Jesus This Passion Week

March 22, 2018 by Phil Auxier

Paul Miller and his organization (See Jesus) are offering a free devotional for Passion Week (delivered to inboxes starting Palm Sunday).

Here’s his invite:

This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday, the beginning of what is known as Holy Week or Passion Week. It is a week when we remember Jesus’ final steps to the cross. I don’t know about you, but for many years, I disliked it. Holy Week was heavy and dark. It was one bad thing after another. I wanted to look away, to fast-forward to Easter Sunday.

But when God turned up the heat on my life, and I began to immerse myself in the gritty details of Jesus’ story, I was riveted by his beauty under incredible pressure—his compassion, his honesty, his oneness with the Father, his focus on others. I no longer wanted to look away from the person of Jesus; I wanted to see him more clearly.

I’m inviting you to join me next week in looking closely at Jesus. We’re sending out a free Passion Week devotional to help you see the real Jesus—full of purpose, dedication, and—yes—passion. Together we will slow down and watch how Jesus lived as a human because seeing Jesus is inseparable from learning how to love.

Will you join me?

–Paul E. Miller

I’m sure, like me, you want to be magnifying Jesus and glorifying God for the work Jesus has done.  Sign up for this devotional and draw near to God this coming week.

I’ve been posting on my Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram feeds videos and graphics related to Holy Week.  The content relates to the book The Final Days of Jesus: The Most Important Week of the Most Important Person Who Ever Lived by Andreas J. Holy Week Help

April 14, 2014 by Phil Auxier

Here’s a quick round up of 2 resources I’m utilizing this week…

1) John Piper’s Devotional Love To The Uttermost.  Here’s their description:

Love to the Uttermost: Devotional Readings for Holy Week is designed for Lent 2014. The readings begin on Palm Sunday, end on Easter Sunday, and aim to focus our attention on Jesus he displays his love to the uttermost (John 13:1). These meditations on the self-giving love of Christ are all excerpted from the preaching and writing ministry of John Piper.

This resource is available as a Mobi (Kindle), EPub (iDevice), or PDF.  Enjoy.

2) In conjunction with Justin Taylor’s book, Final Days of Jesus (my review here), there are videos being posted every day related to each day of Jesus’ final week.  Here’s the Palm Sunday and Monday versions for you to enjoy:

My hope is that these resources bless you and your worship of the Risen Christ this holy week.

From One Degree To Another?

Yeah, that's right. My one, consuming passion is Jesus Christ, my Lord. I'm totally gripped by one message: the Gospel - the good news that God came after me when I was far from Him. So, the life I live, I live by faith in Him: He loved me and gave Himself for me.

From One Degree To Another is the change that He's accomplishing in me by grace. Growing downward in humility, upward into Him, outward toward others, and inward with renewal characterize my existence.

This site is where I flesh all of these types of things out, including my life as a slave to Jesus, husband, father, coffee-enjoyer, and pastor. I hope it encourages you.
