My 5/7/17AM sermon, Not Man’s Gospel from Galatians 1:11-24, is now online. This continues our series in Galatians and really sought to dig in to the autobiographical account that Paul gives in these opening chapters. Specifically, I pressed to show why fidelity to the Gospel matters, highlighting the life-change the Gospel brings. I hope it encourages you.
New Song for May 2017
This month at Crestview, we’ll be learning and singing Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery.
Lyrics:
VERSE 1
Come behold the wondrous mystery
in the dawning of the King.
He the theme of heaven’s praises
robed in frail humanity.
In our longing, in our darkness
now the light of life has come.
Look to Christ, who condescended
took on flesh to ransom us
VERSE 2
Come behold the wondrous mystery
He the perfect Son of Man.
In His living, in His suffering
never trace nor stain of sin.
See the true and better Adam
come to save the hell-bound man.
Christ the great and sure fulfillment
of the law; in Him we stand.
VERSE 3
Come behold the wondrous mystery
Christ the Lord upon the tree.
In the stead of ruined sinners
hangs the Lamb in victory.
See the price of our redemption;
see the Father’s plan unfold.
Bringing many sons to glory
grace unmeasured, love untold.
VERSE 4
Come behold the wondrous mystery;
slain by death the God of life.
But no grave could e’er restrain Him;
praise the Lord; He is alive!
What a foretaste of deliverance;
how unwavering our hope.
Christ in power resurrected
as we will be when he comes.

VBS Meeting Tonight
We have our VBS Worker’s Meeting tonight (at 6:30PM). VBS is in the air (or at least the planning of it).
Crestview’s VBS will be June 18-22 (6:30PM – 8:30PM) nightly for ages 4-6th grade.
You can register your children using this link. You can listen to VBS music here.
We’d love to serve our children this summer, helping them “search the visible and discover the Invisible.”
Update on My Mom, May 2017
You might be aware (especially if you’re from Crestview) that my mother was visiting me this past week. She was having consistent chest pain and ended up going to same day care to get checked out before returning home. They ended up doing lots of tests, including a heart cath to make sure she didn’t have blockage. That was this morning. All the tests came out well. We’re still not sure about what caused the chest pain but we’re certain it’s not a heart issue. My sister flew in and will help drive my mom home later this week.
Thank you to the people who visited, brought us a meal, brought us chocolate :), prayed, and encouraged us these past 24 hours. We’re grateful to be surrounded by so many loving friends and family.
Weekend Recap – No Other Gospel
My 4/30/17AM sermon, No Other Gospel, from Galatians 1:6-10 is now online. While this passage shows what brought about Paul’s shock and awe at the Galatians’ desertion of the Gospel, what I tried to drive at was application for believers. In other words, yes, we should stand up for the Gospel. But, we should suspect ourselves. We might be tempted to drift. Some angel might appear and seek to allure us away from Christ alone. We must hold fast to Christ alone, banking all of our hope and trust in Him.
I hope this sermon encourages you.
Weekend Preview – Shock and Awe
I love this shock-and-awe moment from the movie Hitch:
Tomorrow, Lord willing, at Crestview, we’ll continue working through the book of Galatians (Galatians 1:6-10), with one of the Apostle Paul’s shock and awe moments. Specifically, we’ll see what is so shocking about gospel distortions. I hope to see you there and hope you’re helped to move to no other gospel other than what is found in Christ alone.
Gospel Friday – Christ
Today, is your living Christ? Philippians 1:21 has Paul writing from a prison cell saying to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Today, no matter what you face, no matter who you have to deal with, no matter what troubles emerge, no matter what privileges come, let your living be Christ.
Pray night now that your life would be all Christ. He’s not only worthy of that. He’s able to accomplish His life in you.
Weekend Recap – Why Galatians?
My 4/23/17AM sermon, Why Galatians? from Galatians 1:1-5, is now online. This sermon helped introduce the book of Galatians to our body and showcase why it’s worthy of our study. Considering who Paul was, what our need is, and how God’s glory is the end of the matter helped clarify why we should study. I hope this sermon encourages you.
Gospel Friday – Deliverance
Weekend Preview – Introducing Galatians
This coming Sunday, Lord willing, we’ll get rolling in to the book of Galatians with a sermon on Galatians 1:1-5. I really hope to help everyone see why we need to study this book and what we can hope to see through our study of it. It’s a great week to plug in and join us. Our Corporate Worship begins at 10:15AM on Sundays. In the meantime, you could read through this book before Sunday and ask yourself, why is this letter important. Hope to see you then.
